Notepad++
- freeware
- syntax highlighting and auto completion for several programming languages
- plug-ins can be installed (e.g. XML Path Plugin: mouse right click shows the path of an XML element, Hex Editor)
- multi document
- column mode selection

Notepad2
- freeware
- syntax highlighting
- different encodings
- ligthweight (just the .exe-file)
- notepad.exe can be replaced by notepad2.exe (see Omar Shahine's WebLog for further information)
- has problems with very long lines

Wordpad
- ships together with Windows
- allows you to open huge files
Ultraedit
- license (free trial)
- most powerful editor with many features (e.g. provides an ftp-client)
- download at http://www.ultraedit.com/
mir is nachträglich noch ein editor aus meiner alten firma eingefallen, ich weiß es is schon ziemlich spät ;) :

• Ist frei
• Verschiedenste syntax highlightings möglich
• In der alten firma hatten wir ihn meistens dann verwendet wenn wir große sql files durchsuchen mussten oder bearbeiteten, da pspad einen code explorer integriert hat bei dem (wenn ich mich noch recht erinnere) zb alter tables und procedures etc geordnet und annavigiert werden konnten
